Welcome!

I am a field ecologist and educator.

I completed my PhD, supervised by Dr. Peter Kotanen at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. For my graduate work, I investigated the effect of human impacts on invasive species at the edge of the Canadian Arctic. This provided me with an opportunity to live and conduct fieldwork in the subarctic environment of Churchill, Manitoba, over several years. During my PhD, I also taught multiple courses at UofT, UTM, and Humber College, with topics pertaining to biostatistics, quantitative methods, field methods and natural history during a field course, and bioinfomatics. I am passionate about science communication, and developing best practices for mentorship, pedagogy, and outreach in the university community.

I completed my Honour’s Bachelor of Science in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto. My undergraduate thesis work was supervised by Dr. Locke Rowe and Dr. David Punzalan, where I investigated the distributions and range shifts of two ambush bug species, Phymata americana and P. pennsylvanica.

Apart from science, I do a lot of athletics, including running, and paddling for the Liquid Premier dragon boat team. In my downtime, I also love a good read.
